About These "Malware" Warnings

Hello, MDOHM fans!

1.Sorry about these:

2.The site’s creator and manager, Dane Hesseldahl, is fixing the problem as I type. That doesn’t mean you’ll stop seeing the warnings for a few weeks, thanks to Google’s super security, but it does mean that the malware will have gone away. I imagine it was probably put on here by some disgruntled Portlander angry at me for calling out his $60,000 trip to the Gulf Coast to write a graphic novel, but I can’t prove it, and who knows, I could be wrong.

3.Thanks to the thousands of people this week from 70 countries who braved the warnings and clicked through to the site anyway. If you’re willing to risk your computer exploding just to read what I’ve written, well, you’re an idiot. But I love you. I really do.

The list of nationalities visiting the site reminds me of the intro to Stevie Wonder’s Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing: “Paris, Beirut, Iraq, Iran, Eurasia…I speak very…very…fluent Spanish…” So welcome, bienvenidos, y gracias, to mi nuevo internet amigos this week from Indonesia, Barbados, Mongolia, Bangladesh, Azerbaijan, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Taiwan, Peru, Malaysia, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, the Czech Republic, South Korea, New Zealand, Iraq, Iran, Eurasia…

And remember, when it comes to Malware, there’s one thing to bear in mind:

Because there are certainly worse problems you could be facing…
