Best part of New Year’s Eve, apart from the company and the chili of course, was watching Dizzee Rascal perform Bonkers on the BBC:
All the new album is pretty worthy of a download. But that track, and this one, Dance Wiv Me, seem to be showing the tongue in cheek side of the once more scary grimester and I like it a lot:
I feel the track ‘Stand Up Tall’ from his 2004 album ‘Showtime’ is worth a mention if simply for the fact that he was brave enough to sample ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ and still succeed in making the track his own. That took bottle! He performed this one live on New Years Eve too. Not a big fan of ‘Bonkers’ but it’s his collaboration with Armand Van Helden that makes it work. Likewise, collaboration with Calvin Harris turned ‘Dance wiv Me’ from a good track in a a great one. ‘Holiday’ is another inspired track and though a little ‘poppy’ is definitely worth downloading in my opinion! May be leaving his Grime roots behind him but still an artist worth paying attention to! Big up dem London beats!
Big up the Moot! Big up the Moot!
