Want to see an awesome video? I just interviewed a mad group of bikers who’ve ridden from Knoxville to Portland on pre-1975, <$500, <500cc bikes (hence, they’re called the 555 club). One of them gave me his camera, so I just downloaded all the shots and video. I tried to upload this incredible video to Blogtown but it was too large, so…you can download and watch the most incredible video of them riding across the Utah Salt Flats here. I took this shot of them in the parking lot across the street. The video is by cabinet-maker and bicycle shop owner Eric Ohlgren (back row, second from right) who now has to figure out how the fuck to get back to Knoxville. I can’t wait to write a story on it for the Merc. In the meantime, anybody know of a national publication who might be interested? For example, a really well-paying bike publication…yeah, that would be good.

This could go very Disney or very Van Sant.

The Bigheart Times write up is fantastic.
Yeah, one of the guys said “I wish everyone would stop comparing us to Wild Hogs.”
I said “What’s wrong with being compared to Tim Allen?”
They had a great experience meeting with the people on the reservation, they said. It’s like everywhere they stopped, they had a wonderful experience. Kind of the opposite of Easy Rider, I guess.

hey Matt, Eric from the 555 here. Not sure if you know but some of the SFRC from Portland are doing the trip in reverse this summer. You might want to get up with them.
